Early Career and Influences

In 2001, he moved to Sri Lanka, where he met Professor Sri Anton Jayasuriya, a world-renowned acupuncture specialist. For years, Prof. Luján collaborated with Jayasuriya at his two clinics in Colombo, offering free acupuncture treatment to approximately 150 patients per day.

Professor Jayasuriya passed away in 2005. Over his 47-year acupuncture career, his clinics treated an estimated 3.8 million patients, producing results that attracted global attention.

"Professor David Luján is more than a friend; he is a son. He is number one."
Anton Jayasuriya, 2003

Upon returning to Spain and working with Western patients, Prof. Luján recognized the need to redefine Eastern health standards for Western contexts. These transformative experiences laid the foundation for the development of Natural Acupuncture.

Recognition

As the founder of ECAN – The School of Natural Acupuncture, Prof. Luján was awarded the Merit of Excellence at the 47th World Congress of Complementary Medicine (2009). This award was in recognition of his outstanding career as an educator and his deep contributions to Traditional Chinese Medicine, particularly for expanding the legacy of Prof. Anton Jayasuriya and creating innovative new healing methodologies for the benefit of all patients.
